Welcome to PlanetWiktor.  This is the place where we’ll keep all the interested readers updated on our trip.

Mike and Heather have decided to do something interesting in 2010 and are taking a trip around the world.  We’ve saved some money, put our furniture in storage, quit our jobs, and will wander around the planet for the next several months to see what there is to see.  The point of all of this is partially for fun, but also to gain a better understanding of the rest of the world.  There is certainly a lot to learn about the countless different cultures, history, food, and many other things we’ll encounter.  We are very fortunate to have this opportunity and we are sure there are many ways these new perspectives and experiences will help us after we return home.

The world is too big to see everything, so we need to narrow down the options a little bit.  We’ve picked destinations based on personal interest, historical significance, and sometimes just convenience.  One goal is to get to all seven continents, and we’ll also try to visit anyone we know who is living somewhere along the way.  The plan is far from complete though, we do have several flights booked, but a large part of the itinerary is still undecided.  Check the schedule page for details, but know that the trip will likely change a bit from what is predicted.

Since announcing this trip, we’ve gotten a lot of comments from friends and family; some excited, some worried, but all positive.  Several people have expressed interest in doing the same thing, or seeing the same parts of the world.  We have tried to invite anyone who is interested in joining us, and encourage anyone who is considering it to do so.  The outline of our trip is posted.  If you want to join the party, see if any dates work for you and give us a call.  We’d love to have visitors.
